Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the engineering function at Hycom Inc. by improving manufacturing processes, developing tooling and fixtures, and driving engineering initiatives from concept through implementation. This role works closely with production, quality, and management teams across Hycom’s tube fabrication operations — including tube bending, flaring, deburring, brazing, and crimping — to deliver reliable, efficient, and well‑documented engineering solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Project & Change Management
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to drive engineering initiatives from proposal through implementation
  • Identify and proactively manage project risks, schedule impacts, and resource constraints
  • Create and maintain engineering documents including tube design records, drawing packages, and engineering change requests
Process Engineering
  • Analyze existing manufacturing methods and develop improvements to increase throughput, reduce scrap, and improve process capability across tube fabrication operations
  • Evaluate new tooling, materials, and manufacturing technologies and provide recommendations to engineering management
  • Define detailed specifications for proposed solutions, including scope, timeline, and resource requirements
  • Support tube bending operations including bend sequence development, tooling selection, and LRA calculations
  • Interface with the ERP system to support BOM accuracy, production order coordination, and change tracking
Tooling & Fixture Development
  • Review product designs and manufacturing requirements to identify tooling and fixture needs
  • Design and develop cost‑effective tooling and fixtures that optimize cycle time, repeatability, and operator ergonomics
  • Maintain tooling documentation and support tooling lifecycle management
Quality Support
  • Support root‑cause analysis investigations for quality escapes, nonconformances, and scrap events as required
  • Recommend inspection point improvements and quality control enhancements
  • Assist in developing and updating manufacturing standard worksheets and work instructions
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field preferred
  • A combination of relevant education and hands‑on manufacturing experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with tube or pipe fabrication processes (bending, flaring, brazing, crimping) a strong plus
  • Familiarity with hydraulic tube assembly design or fluid conveyance systems a plus
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solid Works preferred)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems; experience with Acumatica a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, floor‑present mindset
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to document and present engineering work to cross‑functional teams
  • Self‑directed and well‑organized; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively across production, quality, and management functions
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor for extended periods, including prolonged standing and walking
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to wear required PPE in production areas (safety glasses, steel‑toed footwear)
Work Environment

This position operates in both an office and manufacturing floor environment at Hycom’s facility. Exposure to typical metal fabrication conditions — including machinery noise, coolants, and material handling — is expected. This is an on‑site, full‑time role.
