UT Testing Technician - 2nd or 3rd Shift

Pay: $54,000 - $80,000 per year. The base salary is based on local job market factors and may vary by candidate skill and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.

• Study for and pass specific, general, and practical ultrasonic testing examinations
• Accept direction from the ultrasonic testing Group Leader, ultrasonic testing Examiners, and NDT Supervisor
• Interact with shop supervision, personnel, internal auditors, and customer representatives as needed
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly workspace, properly stowing instruments, reference standards, and equipment after use
• Perform visual inspections of surfaces to determine suitability for testing
• Read and understand manufacturing process plans and technical drawings
• Select equipment, instrumentation, search units, and reference standards appropriate to the job per base procedures, addenda, and data sheets (includes lifting up to 50 lbs.)
• Perform standardization of instruments to procedures, addenda, and data sheets
• Work in tandem with other ultrasonic operators and Examiners when necessary
• Transport equipment and reference standards within the plant to the jobsite
• Conduct contact ultrasonic inspection in both shear wave and longitudinal wave modes of heavy-walled base materials, cladding, and weldments
• Conduct UT thickness testing using both digital handheld meters and A‑scan display instruments
• Prepare detailed test report data such as sketches, test reports, and flyers to document results
• Support the shop in proper indication location for removal of ultrasonic and radiographic indications
• Coordinate with UT Group Leader and other UT inspector operators on overtime and work schedules needed to support shop operations
• Position has potential to become a candidate for additional training and qualification as an automated eddy current inspection system operator
• This is for a 2nd shift or 3rd shift position

• Associate’s Degree in a technical field preferred, or relevant equivalent work experience of 2 years, or equivalent military training and experience
• Must be capable of qualifying as an ultrasonic inspector operator for Navy specifications NAVSEA 250‑1500‑1, MIL‑STD‑2132, and NSTR‑99 personnel qualification
• Training and/or experience in Eddy Current Testing is a plus
• All candidates must be U.S. citizens, undergo a pre‑employment check and drug screening, and pass required background investigations
