Position Overview
The Welding Specialist is a key technical role focused on providing expert guidance and support in welding operations within a manufacturing setting. This position entails following detailed manufacturing plans while supporting shop personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedural compliance during critical welding activities.
LocationOn-site in Barberton, Ohio
Your Day to Day as a Welding Specialist (Back Shift)- Supports site wide initiatives for streamlining manufacturing for welding related applications (standardization or work scopes, work cell development/ownership, process improvements, etc.).
- Programs welding parameters on programmable equipment.
- Trains and assists welders/operators in production welding environment on process, welding equipment, qualification requirements, etc.
- Follows detailed manufacturing plans, providing direction to shop personnel and supervision.
- Support equipment related improvement projects such as identifying and procuring new welding equipment, coordinating PM activities for existing equipment, evaluating spare parts inventory, etc.
- Prepares and reviews welding/fabrication support material and training aids (i.e., bead placement sketches, setup sheets, welding instructions).
- High school graduate, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of welding experience in a shop environment.
- Good understanding of manual, semi‑automatic, and mechanized/automatic welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, AGTAW‑CW/HW, AGMAW, SAW, SA‑GMAW.
- Hands‑on welding experience not required but desirable for training shop personnel.
- Proficiency with PC and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to collaborate with hourly personnel, shop supervision, engineering support, and other departments.
- Ability to follow detailed manufacturing plans and provide direction to shop personnel.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Availability to work overtime, occasional daily, and occasional weekend support.
- U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
- Formal welding technical education (trade school) is a plus but not required.
- Experience with robotic welding is a plus.

Pay: $53,000 – $86,000 per year.

The position requires U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and prior employment reference verifications.
