CNC Programmer / Machinist

Barberton, Ohio.

Compass Systems is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. We are adding machining to our capabilities and building a machine shop from the ground up. In this role you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers to produce high‑quality components in a fast‑paced environment.

• Perform EIA/ISO programming and operate the machine conversational interface.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to design, lay out, and produce work fixtures and custom tools.
• Manage tool, material, and stock inventory and purchase as needed.
• Review and recommend changes to drawings and material specifications with Engineering.
• Conduct first‑article inspections and post‑batch inspections based on drawing GD&T.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Contribute to preventive maintenance and schedule repairs as required.
• Apply common sense to understand and carry out instructions, identify technical set‑up issues, and resolve problems.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of machining experience, preferably with CNC.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
• Positive safety attitude.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, motor‑lift equipment, and handheld tools.
• Capable of standing >8 hours and lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Experience producing programs for parts using CAD/CAM software.
• Document tool setup and operation procedures.
• Propose design or process changes that improve repeatability and cost.
• 2‑year technical degree in relevant field.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
