What is a Cast House?
The Cast House is a structure that holds an aluminum smelter. Howmet Aerospace's smelters are among the safest in the world. Our modern aluminum smelter requires trained and skilled operators.
Position Summary:
Prepare, assemble, and install casting materials and equipment. Operate casting lines to cast aluminum billets (ingots) and inspect cast ingot and scrap.
Essential Duties:
- Charge furnace safely and control furnace level per standard operating procedures.
- Prepare the casting lines and filter boxes according to standard or special operating procedures.
- Visual inspection of all cast ingots.
- Safely monitor and maintain cast lines per standard operating procedure.
- Ship acceptable ingots per standard operating procedures.
Additional Duties:
- Record operating data onto check sheets and make process adjustments.
- Operate forklift when needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Training will be provided; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
- Ability to read and understand warning labels, JSA, and MSDS.
- Ability to be Mobile Equipment Certified.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- One year of manufacturing experience.
- High School Diploma, GED, or 2 years of work experience.
- Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Foundry or casting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting: Medium – lift on an occasional basis up to 50 pounds, frequent or constant lifting of 25 pounds.
- Standing: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday).
- Walking: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday).
- Bending and Twisting: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday).
- Temperature extremes: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday in non-climate controlled environment).
- Noise: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday in noisy production environment).
