7-Axis CNC HBM Operator - BWX Technologies, Inc.

We are hiring a 7-Axis CNC Horizontal Boring Mill Operator for our facility in Barberton, Ohio!
The individual hired for this role will operate horizontal boring mills with vertical machining and boring attachments, with continuous path, to perform contouring, trepanning, milling, face milling, drilling, tapping, boring, and other CNC operations necessary for machining large-scale precision components. Additionally, the machinist will:
- Grind and perform handwork to deburr, as necessary
- Use electronic measuring probe to inspect work, as required
- Work from process, drawings, manuscripts, verbal and written instructions
- Obtain necessary tooling and information for tape or manual data input operations
- Position and secure work piece and fixtures on table; properly assembles tooling and connects attachments
- Use precision instruments to physically measure setup; observe digital readout and compensate to orient work piece and machine to tape or MDI
- Make test cut and rechecks setup; make in-process compensations to keep prints, tapes, and manuscripts coordinated at all times
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
- Verify identity and physical characteristics of materials, as required
- Maintain necessary records and complete process documentation and any production records, as required
- Perform minor maintenance on machines and assist maintenance personnel as required during repairs
In order to thrive in this role, individuals must possess the necessary skills to safely perform the required tasks. This includes having a high school diploma or GED equivalence coupled with at least three (3) years of experience performing multi-axis CNC HBM machining operations, with and without continuous path. Lesser experience coupled with formal education and/or certification may be considered. Desired applicants must also:
- Be knowledgeable of all machine functions and coded commands (both G and M code)
- Work to 0.000" tolerance and microfinish 16 when necessary
- Use higher math and engineering theories to work with tooling engineers to devise optimum tooling design and practices
- Have experience with grinders, tool setter, jacks, clamps, bolts, shims, jigs, fixtures, angle plates, rules, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, lapping equipment, gages, levels, protractors, verniers, and light hand tools
- Be able to pass all proficiency testing for the position
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Must be open and available to working all shifts
- Successfully pass all pre-employment processes, including an extensive criminal background check, a physical examination and drug screen, verification of education and work history, and reference checks.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required communicate verbally and with written information; to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use ladders inside and outside of parts being machined. The employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Pay for this position is $43.68 per hour and is complemented by a generous benefits package. Upon an offer, a relocation package is available for eligible candidates.

The starting rate for this position in Ohio (US-OH) is $43.68 per hour. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
