Laboratory Sample Assistant Responsibilities
Laboratory Sample Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares outgoing shipments of bottle kits and outgoing coolers of samples for delivery to laboratory.
- Utilizes Eurofins LIMS system (TALs) to receive bottle orders from project managers and prepare them in kits as directed.
- Interacts with Project Managers and clients appropriately and professionally.
- Communicates effectively with coworkers about the status of orders.
- Restocks supplies when received so supplies are available to employees when needed.
- Verifies the validity and completeness of all bottle orders being delivered. This verification is done prior to leaving for delivery.
- Maintains the shipping/receiving area to ensure a safe work environment.
- Performs all duties as outlined in the SOP for Couriers.
- Picks up and delivers samples and bottle orders as needed.
- Counts the number of samples when receiving them from clients to make sure that the Chain of Custody and samples match. Verifies that samples are not broken or damaged.
- Receives and signs the Chain of Custody.
- Ensures that client signs, dates, and records time on the Chain of Custody when releasing samples.
- Transports samples on ice from client site to the service center, or from our service center to a sub-contracted laboratory.
- Unloads samples and inspects for damage or violated hold times to maintain sample integrity.
- Follows directions or uses maps to locate client offices/sites as specified in the courier request form.
- Records in the courier log book the time that courier arrives at the site and time leaving from the site for all the pick‑ups and deliveries.
- Maintains records for vehicle maintenance and driving miles; turns it in at the end of each month.
- Performs duties in accordance with Section 14 of the Transportation and Fleet Safety of the Corporate Safety Manual.
- Complies with the Company’s Driver Evaluation and Qualification Policy.
- Maintains delivery vehicle to keep in proper working order.
- May be assigned other sample control duties as identified by the Service Center Manager.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self‑motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to read maps and follow directions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Position is located in Barberton, OH. 1st shift, Tuesday‑Saturday 8:30 AM‑5:00 PM.
Position Range starts at $17.75/hr, based on experience. Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes; the actual base salary may vary based on applicable experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
