Associate Manager, Sales Compliance
This is an office based position, based out of our Louisville or Bardstown, KY locations.
What the Role IsThe Associate Manager, Sales Compliance leads sales compliance activities for Heaven Hill's Control State Division, overseeing pricing administration, product registrations, purchase allowances, and regulatory compliance across U.S. control states. This role is responsible for navigating complex state laws, pricing mandates, trade practice regulations, and product listing requirements while ensuring compliance with state licensing laws, and control board policies.
The Associate Manager has one direct report, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload prioritization, and quality oversight to ensure the timely and accurate execution of compliance processes. Working closely with Regional Managers, state ABC agencies, distributor partners, and the AVP, Control States, this role supports commercial objectives by ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, monitoring regulatory changes, and mitigating compliance risk to maintain efficient operations and market access.

Position Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Serve as the primary liaison between Regional Managers and Alcohol Control divisions within each control state, escalating issues and driving timely resolution as needed.
- Manage and provide oversight of monthly pricing and purchase allowance submissions using required state forms, specialized software, and internal systems.
- Supervise, coach, and develop Sales Compliance Associate, including prioritizing work, reviewing accuracy, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
- Review and approve documents and digital files required to register new brands, size extensions, allocated releases, holiday submissions, and product configuration updates.
- Lead special projects within the control division, including acquisitions, allocated-release registrations, process improvements, and other compliance-related initiatives.
- Maintain and oversee Control State Code numbers, applications, renewal requirements, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure pricing and purchase allowance entries into IFS are complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with internal controls and external requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures, ensuring the direct report and key stakeholders understand process expectations.
- Monitor control state requirements and communicate process or regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
- Partner directly with the AVP, Control States to execute critical strategies, prioritize efforts, and align work with organizational goals.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across Sales, Operations, Finance, and external control state contacts while modeling company values and compliance-minded decision making.
Required
Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred - Minimum five (5) years of experience in sales administration, pricing, regulatory compliance, or related business support function; control state compliance experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory, team lead, or project leadership experience preferred.
- Preferred experience in the spirits industry or another highly regulated consumer products environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills with the ability to guide one direct report and influence cross-functional partners.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain compliance requirements clearly and professionally.
- Ability to think ahead with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities while ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
- Strong analytical, technical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, specialized state systems, and ERP/business systems; IFS experience preferred.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships inside and outside the company, set a positive example, and act in a manner consistent with company values.
