Position OverviewThe production operator I contributes to an assigned area of the team‑oriented production process. Duties include operating automated production equipment, diagnosing machinery failures, assisting in preventative maintenance, and sanitizing all related equipment. The operator is also responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, mastering enterprise software for production and financial data, and demonstrating competency for all on‑job activities that impact product safety, legality, and quality.
The role requires teamwork and adherence to company policies.
- Stooping and bending while lifting 20–50 pounds; occasionally lifting dough modules up to 120 pounds.
- Climbing fixed and portable ladders up to 20 feet, carrying up to 20 pounds of dough, and crawling under machinery.
- Push or pull wheeled carts weighing 400–500 lbs. over 150–300 feet; move a 2400‑lb container a distance of 50 feet; move equipment and icing troughs weighing up to 900 lbs. a distance of 50 feet.
- Check and adhere to production work schedule for job assignments and reporting times.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes‑Oxley, etc.).
- Perform other duties as directed by management, including fulfillment of work schedules, attendance policies, and applicable rules.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area at all times while on duty.
- Operate facility metal detector(s) if trained and certified.
- Comply with work rules, safety rules, and GMPs.
- Set up equipment following all procedures, specifications, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a continuous, efficient flow of materials through assigned equipment.
- Verify product quality meets required standards throughout operation.
- Make necessary adjustments to equipment to maintain proper performance, measurements, and production speeds.
- Remove defective product and ensure only compliant product moves forward in the process.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow sanitation requirements.
- Complete required documentation and system entries accurately and on time.
Two (2) or more years of related experience.
Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalency plus successful completion of a technical certification course (e.g., HVAC, auto maintenance/repair). Equivalent military training, related technical training, or completion of at least 45 college credit hours may substitute for technical training. A technical certification course may include the AIB “Science of Baking” course.
CompensationSalary Range: $22.25 – $24.50 per hour.
