General Summary
The Food Service Equipment Technician travels in a company owned vehicle daily to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial refrigeration and food service equipment in our Five Star stores. Daily work can range from routine maintenance to more complex repairs, and other general maintenance tasks may be assigned while at a location.
EssentialJob Duties
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair retail food service and refrigeration systems, including but not limited to ovens, deep fryers, walk-in coolers, freezers, and heating/air conditioning equipment.
- Complete basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing troubleshooting and repairs.
- Complete all tasks safely and efficiently with an understanding of occupational hazards.
- Follow all applicable company policies, laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and outside agencies.
- Other basic and routine maintenance tasks as assigned.
- At least one year’s experience in food service equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, procedures, and practices related to facility construction and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
- Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills, including ability to use an iPad and work order software.
- Professional appearance and a positive attitude.
- Team player, honest, hardworking, and excellent attendance.
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Have or able to obtain a DOT medical card.
- This position typically works day shift Monday through Friday; but occasional nights, weekends, and holidays are required, including a rotating on-call schedule. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- There may be prolonged periods of sitting in and/or driving a truck to job sites.
- May be subject to outside weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Must be able to operate all equipment associated with facility construction and maintenance.
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor and effectively handle lifting objects up to 60lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, squat, kneel, and climb ladders on a regular basis.
- Must be comfortable working and operating equipment at various heights.
