Bio Characterisation Scientist Manchester Given our continued success and growth within our pharmaceutical testing business, we are seeking a Bio Characterisation Scientist to join our expanding team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to build your career within a highly regulated pharmaceutical testing environment, supporting the characterisation of biopharmaceutical products. The role can be appointed at Analyst, Senior Analyst or Scientist level, depending on experience, offering excellent development opportunities and a clear progression pathway.

You'll join a supportive team of scientists from a variety of backgrounds, where knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and continuous development are actively encouraged Required skills and experience: BSc, MSc or PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.

Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality scientific data. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment. Positive, proactive, and accountable approach to work. Laboratory placement, internship, or industrial experience would be advantageous.

Experience with any of the following techniques would be beneficial:
Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) Circular Dichroism (CD) Analytical Ultracentrifugation (AUC) ELISA UV Spectroscopy Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

Experience with in a GMP, GLP, or other regulated laboratory environment would be advantageous.

Experience of method development, validation, and biopharmaceutical analysis would be beneficial. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY As a Bio Characterisation Scientist, you'll support the analysis and characterisation of biopharmaceutical products within our GMP/GLP-regulated laboratories. You will contribute to a wide variety of projects, ranging from routine testing through to method development, validation studies, troubleshooting investigations, and scientific reporting. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience across a broad range of analytical techniques while developing a deep understanding of biopharmaceutical products and regulated laboratory practices.

As your experience grows, you'll have opportunities to take on greater scientific ownership, client-facing responsibilities, and technical leadership activities. Our projects often span extended periods, allowing scientists to build technical expertise, establish strong client relationships, and see the long-term impact of their work. This role provides an excellent platform for career progression from Analyst level through to Senior Scientist and beyond

Key activities:

Perform analytical testing supporting biopharmaceutical characterisation studies. Plan and execute laboratory work across multiple projects and client studies. Generate, review, interpret, and communicate scientific data. Prepare technical reports and scientific documentation. Support routine analysis, method development, method validation, and troubleshooting activities. Apply and develop expertise in biophysical and biochemical analytical techniques. Maintain compliance with GMP, GLP, quality, and safety requirements. Collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider scientific team.
