Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide.
Job Summary
This position supports the college's admissions operations by managing electronic applicant records, processing admissions documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of student files. This position plays a critical role in maintaining data integrity, supporting admissions workflows, and delivering high-quality customer service to prospective students and campus stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Admissions Processing (45%)
* Processes and reviews student applications and related files.
* Monitors student files for completeness and readiness for evaluation.
* Revises application files following evaluations in accordance with institutional and University System of Georgia guidelines.
* Determines applicant testing requirements and residency requirements in accordance with institutional and University System of Georgia guidelines.
* Determines student immunization requirements and reviews supporting documentation.
* Enters ACT and SAT scores; processes updated test scores.
* Processes student acceptances, denials, and other admissions decisions.
* Communicates with applicants regarding missing documents, application status, and next steps via email, phone, or in-person as needed.
* Maintains a variety of files and records in compliance with FERPA, University System of Georgia, and institutional retention and privacy standards.
* Monitors admissions workflows, queues, and student records for data, processing, and system errors; identify, track, and resolve errors to ensure timely and accurate processing.
Transcript & Records Processing (45%)
* Scans and indexes enrolled student records.
* Maintains accurate student records within the student information system and supporting databases.
* Assists with admissions reporting, data tracking, and information lists.
* Supports accurate documentation management related to admissions and enrollment processing.
* Ensures data integrity and compliance with institutional and system standards across admissions records.
Enrollment Services Support (10%)
* Provides customer service to prospective students, parents, counselors, and campus partners.
* Assists with training new admissions processors and provide backup support for key admissions processing functions.
* Participates in on-campus, off-campus, and virtual admissions and recruiting events as needed.
* Attends admissions-related training classes and professional development sessions.
* Performs related duties as assigned in support of Admissions and Enrollment Services.
Required Qualifications
* Associate's degree
* Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and best practices, including Gordon State College admissions policies.
* Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs including student information systems, document imaging systems, electronic workflow processes, and Microsoft Office applications.
* Knowledge of Gordon State College admissions policies.
* Skill in decision making and problem solving, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Skill in the provision of customer services to applicants and students, and other stakeholders, with a professional and positive demeanor.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
* Ability to adapt to changing technology, processes, and priorities.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed.
