About Us
Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with the orientation programing for incoming students.
Responsibilities
Attends and participates in training sessions.
Be actively involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Orientation sessions.
Be a point of contact between prospective students and GSC before, during, and after orientation sessions.
Welcomes new students and families to the college, assists with orientation check-in process, facilitates guided tours, leasd small group activities, and participates in presentations (on-stage or off-stage) during orientation sessions.
Assists various GSC departments and offices as needed.
Required Qualifications
Must be a full-time, degree seeking undergraduate student and have completed 12 credit hours at Gordon State College.
Must be in good academic and judicial standing with GSC; minimum 2.5 GPA.
Must have completed the Highlander Leadership Academy or have plans to complete it before orientations begin.
Preferred Qualifications
Exhibits leadership potential and a positive, energetic attitude.
Possesses a working knowledge of GSC campus and student support services.
Displays effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Has a willingness to work in a team environment and often with limited direct supervision.
Demonstrates self-initiative, punctuality, maturity, and flexibility.
