Job SummaryGordon State College is recruiting for part-time faculty to teach courses in various disciplines including:
- American Government
- State and Local Government
- Comparative Politics
- Global Issues
Teach assigned courses in the School of Business and Professional Studies, ensuring high-quality delivery of content and student engagement.
Curriculum DevelopmentContribute to the development, review, and updating of course materials and syllabus to ensure alignment with industry trends and academic standards.
Student SupportProvide timely feedback on assignments, assessments, and exams; hold office hours for student consultations; and offer academic guidance and mentorship.
Assessment and GradingAssess student performance through assignments, tests, projects, and other methods as defined by the course syllabus.
CollaborationParticipate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of academic initiatives. Collaborate with fellow faculty members to improve instructional quality and student success.
Professional DevelopmentStay updated on the latest research, teaching methods, and industry practices to continuously improve instructional effectiveness and stay relevant in the field.
Administrative ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and any other necessary documentation.
Required QualificationsMaster's degree in the field of Political Science or a related field, with 18 or more semester credit hours in that discipline.
Two (2) years teaching experience in higher education.
Preferred QualificationsDoctorate degree in teaching discipline.
Three (3) – Five (5) years of professional experience in a political science-related field, preferably in the field relevant to the courses being taught.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Advanced user of MS Office applications, such as Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
Experienced user of Zoom to set up meetings/sessions with students.
Experienced user of Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace D2L, etc.
