Position: Teacher of the Deaf in Barnesville, GA

Key

Qualifications:
  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, and/or sign language approaches
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with educators, support staff, and families
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, shaping lessons to accommodate various learning and communication styles
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers and staff, promoting accessibility and success for students
  • Serve as an advocate, modeling and promoting inclusive practices within the school community
  • Engage with families, sharing updates and resources to support student achievement at home and in the classroom
