¿ s basketball program, while also supporting the recruitment of student- athletes and other prospective students within assigned territory.
Head Basketball Coach (51%)
- Provides overall leadership and direction for the Men
¿ s Basketball program to ensure competitive performance and satisfactory growth and development of student-athletes. - Schedules and conducts structured practices, implements game strategies, and coaches to develop student-athletes
¿ skills, teamwork, and individual performance. - Identifies and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the program
¿ s competitive and academic standards. Manages all aspects of the recruitment process in compliance with NJCAA and institutional guidelines. - Monitors academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes in collaboration with academic support staff. Encourages graduation, transfer readiness, and lifelong learning. Ensures that athletes meet requirements established for athletic eligibility.
- Ensures strict adherence to NJCAA, Conference, and College rules and regulations. Establishes and enforces team rules regarding conduct, punctuality, academic responsibilities, and overall discipline.
- Oversees all program operations, including scheduling, travel arrangements, equipment management, and budget administration. Maintains accurate records and ensures timely completion of required documentation for travel.
- Develops and implements fundraising initiatives to support program goals. Engages in media and public relations activities to promote the Men
¿ s Basketball program and represent the College positively. - Serves on committee or boards as designated/nominated for the NJCAA, Conference, College, or other related organizations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Recruiter (49%)
- Responsible for converting inquiries and applications from prospective students within the assigned territory into enrollments; in alignment with departmental and institutional enrollment goals.
- Travels to high schools, college fairs, and other locations to recruit potential students.
- Prepares and delivers presentations and campus tours to prospective students, visitors, and various stakeholders, including those from assigned territories and athletes.
- Advises prospective students on academic programs, admissions policies, and procedures.
- Conducts targeted outreach campaigns via email, call, and text.
- Participates in the implementation of recruitment strategies.
- Informs students about available academic programs and ensures their applications align with their interests/ goals.
- Refers students with specific learning and support needs to the appropriate campus services.
- Serves as a primary contact for counselors from high schools within the assigned territory.
- Assists in planning and executing on-campus events and communication strategies for high school counselors.
- Participates in departmental activities and university wide recruitment events.
Bachelor
¿ s degree from an accredited institution.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver
¿ s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Prior experience working in higher education (student experience will be considered).
Knowledge of Gordon State College and its programs.
Experience in post-secondary enrollment services.
Prior experience in intercollegiate athletics as a player or coach preferred.
Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs, including Banner and CRM.
Knowledge of all applicable NJCAA Conference, and college rules and regulations.
Knowledge of Gordon State College admissions policies including freshmen, transfer, access institute, and learning support requirements.
Skill in information analysis, decision making, and problem solving.
Skill in the provision of customer services to applicants and students.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Aptitude for navigating information systems and interpretating data.
