With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state‑of‑the‑art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide.

Job Summary

This position directs, plans, and administers the college's Housing and Residence Life programs and services. The Director provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all residential operations, student engagement initiatives, safety and compliance efforts, and long‑range housing planning. The position exercises broad decision‑making authority, establishes departmental policies and procedures, supervises professional and support staff, and ensures alignment with institutional goals and University System and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Leadership, Administration, & Strategic Planning (35%)
  • Directs the day to day administration and long term strategic planning of the Office of Housing and Residence Life, including residential operations, student engagement, safety, and facilities coordination.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive residential programming and educational model that engages students through active and passive initiatives, including themed housing and learning communities.
  • Represents Housing and Residence Life on institutional committees, task forces, search committees, planning groups, and governance bodies.
  • Prepares and presents reports, assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership regarding housing operations, student outcomes, risk management, and departmental effectiveness.
  • Develops and administers the Housing and Residence Life budgets; monitors expenditures, ensures compliance with fiscal controls, and provides budget projections and justifications.
  • Performs related duties as assigned in support of institutional priorities.
Residential Operations and Facilities Management (25%)
  • Provides leadership for the opening, closing, and transitional operations of residential facilities, ensuring effective coordination with campus partners and external vendors.
  • Oversees room registration, housing selection, assignments, contracts, and occupancy management, including administration of housing software systems.
  • Coordinates with facilities, campus safety, and auxiliary services to ensure maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of residential facilities.
Student Support, Crisis Management, and Conduct Administration (25%)
  • Serves as the primary administrator responsible for student crisis response related to residential life, including participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation during business hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Serves as a member of the CARE Team, providing leadership in the management of student welfare concerns and coordinated campus crisis response.
  • Adjudicates housing-related student conduct cases in coordination with the Dean of Students and other campus partners.
  • Reviews and renders decisions on petitions and appeals related to housing agreements and residency requirements.
Policy Development & Compliance (15%)
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and enforces departmental policies, procedures, and protocols that support a safe, inclusive, and academically supportive residential environment.
  • Ensures education, training, and ongoing professional development of staff in crisis response, behavioral intervention, Title IX, Clery Act, mental health, and substance-related incidents.
  • Serves as a member of the Clery Committee, ensuring departmental compliance with federal reporting, documentation, and training requirements.
