Job SummaryThe Sports Information Student Assistant supports the Athletics Department by assisting with athletic communications, social media, photography, and game‑day operations. This position provides hands‑on experience while helping promote Gordon State Athletics and student‑athletes.
Communications & Social Media- Assist with posting updates on the athletics website and social media platforms.
- Create basic graphics using Canva or similar software.
- Write short game summaries and student‑athlete highlights.
- Help promote upcoming athletic events.
- Assist with game‑day statistics and score reporting.
- Photograph home athletic events.
- Capture short video clips for social media.
- Assist with event setup and media operations as assigned.
- Organize digital photos and media files.
- Assist with special events and department projects.
- Perform general office duties as needed.
- Must be enrolled at Gordon State College in a minimum of six (6) credit hours.
- Must be Federal Work Study eligible.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must have familiarity with social media platforms and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google Workspace).
- Interest in sports, communications, marketing, journalism, or graphic design.
- Experience with Canva, photography, or video editing is a plus but not required.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during athletic events.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.
