This position is responsible for performing skilled or journeyman level work in a combination of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and/or building systems.
Responsibilities- Completes general carpentry and finish work in all campus owned facilities.
- Repairs plumbing supply lines, drains, valves, rebuilds toilets; replaces faucets.
- Repairs and maintains doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings and exteriors of buildings.
- Installs, repairs, and services electrical appliances, devices, and equipment; installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems.
- Installs, repairs and services HVACR appliances and equipment by troubleshooting, replacing necessary parts, and operation of those devices for optimal performance and energy savings.
- Acts as a lead worker over other maintenance technicians and helpers; assigns duties and instructs group work; ensures continuing performance among the work group; serves in a technical support role for the workgroup providing instruction in complex or unfamiliar tasks.
- Uses a work order system daily to manage tasks.
- Performs related duties and other tasks assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in facilities maintenance or skilled trades, including experience in at least two of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, or carpentry.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug test.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in facilities maintenance or skilled trades.
- Technical or vocational diploma or degree in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or other related maintenance field.
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or construction related field.
- Experience leading or coordinating the work of maintenance personnel or training other maintenance staff.
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance principles and practices.
- Knowledge of best practices and safety procedures.
- Knowledge and ability to perform in at least two of the following: HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical system installation, repair and maintenance principles, carpentry repair and construction principles.
- Skill in the safe and efficient operation of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
