Job SummaryPrimary responsibilities will include teaching education courses, observing teacher candidates, and advising majors in the programs. Candidates will also be required to serve on department, school, and college committees as well as engage in professional development. Student success activities will be a factor in annual evaluation.
Responsibilities- Teaches undergraduate courses appropriate to his/her appointment and credentialing.
- Plans and conducts classes in a manner conducive to creating an effective learning environment which helps students achieve the educational outcomes set by the college, the standards of the discipline, and external accrediting agencies.
- Compiles, administers and evaluates examinations and assignments appropriate to the educational outcomes of the college. These evaluations should be based on student performance.
- Serves as an effective advisor to students on academic curricula, course selection, and graduation requirements.
- Attends and participates in student orientation and registration activities as required.
- Serves on faculty committees at the department, college, or system level as elected by the faculty or appointed by the administration.
- Serves the college and community by providing expertise in his/her field to colleagues, schools, businesses, and other organizations.
- Maintains the required number of office hours each week.
- Helps with student recruitment when requested.
- Teaches classes at night and off-campus as needed.
- Attends formal academic exercises of the College, including the President's Convocation and Graduation, and on such occasions wears appropriate academic attire.
- Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or related field in education or the ability to earn your doctorate in those areas prior to appointment.
- K-12 public school teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with successful college teaching experience, both face to face and online.
- Demonstrated experience working with an access institution.
- At least 18 graduate hours in Special Education, Secondary Education, or Elementary Education.
