Join the RAC as a Roadside Technician
Keep the UK moving by delivering expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. With a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least two years of technical, electrical and diagnostic experience, you will start and finish your shift from home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside.

You will be part of the Barnet cluster, covering areas such as Barnet, Finchley, Totteridge, Whetstone, Hendon and Golders Green. Work is organised locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing each day on getting members back on the road in your local area.
Requirements- Level 2 light‑vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent)
- Minimum two years of post‑qualification technical, electrical and diagnostic experience
- Customer‑focused approach
- Full UK driving licence
As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you will deliver:
- Expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support
- Quick and confident solutions for issues such as flat batteries, tyre changes and complex fault‑finding
- Reassurance and excellent service to members in need
- Daily planning and execution of calls from home, using your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools and diagnostic kit provided by the company
You are more than a mechanic – you are a problem solver, a people person and a proud ambassador for the RAC. You thrive on variety, staying calm under pressure and confident in your craft. You are quick on your feet, able to think and act independently to make the right call for each customer, and you enjoy a role where no two jobs are the same.
