GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The First Year Seminar (FSM
101) is a one-credit course designed to provide students participating in the Advantage (TRIO SSS) Program with a successful transition into the College community. The workshop format of the course provides students with information pertaining to the services and resources available at the College. Course time will be spent on adapting executive functioning skills to the college environment and on setting well-informed career and educational goals.
The utilization of technology will be introduced.
The Instructor will teach one or two 1-credit classes on Wednesdays, 11:00am-12:00pm and Thursdays, 9:30am-10:30am for the Fall 2026 semester (September 8 - December 22, 2026).
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- 1. Provide instruction in a face-to-face classroom.
- 2. Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
- 3. Track and assess student progress.
- 4. Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- 5. Work with Advantage Program staff to assess and address individual learner needs.

Anticipated starting salary
- Step 1 DCE Pay scale (currently $1,512 for 1-credit course). Part-time, non-benefited, grant funded DCE/MCCC Unit Position.
