GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Student Success Navigator position is funded by a Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Multilingual Contract. This contract supports multilingual early childhood educators in a higher education pathway aligned with EEC's professional credential. Cape Cod Community College offers the 16-credit ECE Foundational Certificate Program in Brazilian Portuguese, combined with English language learning support, to help multilingual students become bilingual and biliterate in English.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Student Recruitment and Outreach- 1. Conduct outreach activities in the Brazilian Portuguese-speaking community to recruit prospective ECE students into the Foundational Certificate Program.
- 2. Represent the program at community events, information sessions, and partner organization meetings to raise awareness of the ECE pathway.
- 3. Communicate program information in both English and Brazilian Portuguese, including translating outreach materials as needed.
- 1. Facilitate information sessions in Brazilian Portuguese to inform prospective students about the ECE Foundational Certificate Program and the supports available to them.
- 2. Assist students with college enrollment processes, including application, registration, financial aid access, and completion of onboarding requirements.
- 3. Guide students through educational technology onboarding, including setting up and navigating Microsoft Authenticator, the college portal, Zoom, Moodle email, and other required platforms, serving as a bridge for students who may encounter barriers accessing college systems.
- 1. Serve as a dedicated student advocate, ensuring students have access to the academic, financial, and personal resources they need to succeed throughout the program.
- 2. Facilitate or connect students to academic orientation, advising services, and required student engagement activities such as program information sessions and workshops.
- 3. Attend ECE bilingual classes and integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize a student's potential for academic progress.
- 4. Provide follow-up to ensure students are accessing available services and progressing toward their educational goals.
- 5. Translate program materials, communications, and student-facing resources into Brazilian Portuguese as needed to support student comprehension and engagement.
