The Regional Disease Investigator & MAVEN Specialist is a part-time, grant-funded position supporting the communities of the CAPE Public Health Collaborative (CAPE PHC) under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Public Health Excellence (PHE) Grant Program.
The position serves as a shared regional resource for communicable disease investigation, Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network (MAVEN) training and support, and surge coverage across all communities within the CAPE PHC. This role advances the collaborative’s mission of building uniform, standardized public health capacity, with particular focus on disease surveillance, case investigation, and workforce competency development in communicable disease response; all other related work as required.
Conduct communicable disease case investigations for all reportable diseases in accordance with MDPH protocols and 105 CMR 300.000, including interviewing cases and contacts, collecting epidemiological data, and documenting findings in MAVEN.
Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, nursing, or a related field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in communicable disease investigation, public health surveillance, or a closely related public health field preferred. Experience working in a local or state health department or shared services environment strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
