Job DescriptionGeneral Statement of Responsibilities:
The Nursing Lab Faculty Member and Coordinator provides instructional leadership and operational management of the College's Nursing laboratories. This position ensures the effective delivery of nursing laboratory courses, maintains a safe and innovative learning environment, and supports student learning through simulation, lab practice, and technology-enhanced instruction. The role balances teaching responsibilities with coordination duties in alignment with 37.5 hours weekly: teaching and student contact will account for 25.5 hours weekly;
lab coordination, administration, and planning will account for 12 hours weekly. This is an in‑person position Monday through Friday during the academic year.

Instructional and Faculty Responsibilities (25.5 hours, 70% of workload)- Teach and facilitate nursing laboratory courses including, but not limited to, NUR

211) - Coordinate and schedule instructional lab hours in alignment with nursing curriculum requirements
- Maintain posted office hours, advise students academically, and provide individualized support for skill development and clinical reasoning
- Participate in college, division, department, program, and course team meetings (weekly or biweekly)
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum and laboratory learning experiences to ensure consistency and alignment of laboratory and simulation activities with student learning outcomes
- Design, implement, and evaluate simulation‑based learning experiences that promote clinical judgment, psychomotor skill development, and evidence‑based nursing practice
- Integrate simulation and hands‑on learning into nursing courses such as NUR
110, NUR
111, NUR
201 (NUR
210), and NUR
202 (NUR
211) to enhance clinical reasoning and skill mastery - Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes at course, program, and institutional levels
- Create and provide teaching resources via Moodle learning management system
- Contribute to program accreditation preparation (ACEN, NECHE, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing)
- Utilize the End of Course Report (EOCR), entering data in collaboration with Nursing faculty to support continuous program improvement
- Coordinate day‑to‑day operations of the nursing labs, ensuring a safe, functional, and effective learning environment
- Develop semester lab schedules for Nursing in collaboration with the Director
- Collaborate with Facilities and IT to ensure optimal functioning of lab spaces and simulation technology
- Train faculty in the use and maintenance of lab and simulation equipment in collaboration with the Director
- Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering, storage, maintenance, and disposal of materials/equipment for Nursing
- Recommend and justify budgetary items to support the growth of the Nursing program through new technologies and resources
- Submit purchase requisitions and prepare required expenditure reports
- Maintain compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing regulations and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards
- Facilitate open lab practice sessions for student practice and coordinate schedules with other nursing faculty
- Participate in systematic program evaluation and contribute to policy development and implementation of all components of the Nursing Program
- Maintain laboratory environment to assure lab security, cleanliness, organization, and safety
- Monitor lab and simulation equipment and perform routine assessments including preventive maintenance to ensure proper functionality
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation scenarios consistent with program learning outcomes and evidence‑based educational practices
