Aquaculture And Marine Resource Specialist

Professional, technical, and educational work relating to aquaculture, shellfisheries, and water quality; all other related work as required. Supervision Works under the administrative direction of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Specialist.

• Assists the Aquaculture and Marine Resource Specialists with a variety of shellfish, finfish, aquaculture and water quality research and monitoring projects Data collection and entry into databases as well as data analysis for incorporation into scientific publications and presentations.
• Provides information and technical assistance to the general public, private industry, and public officials regarding shellfisheries, restoration of living marine resources, and related information.
• Assists in organizing and conducting workshops, demonstrations, and programs; coordinates efforts and works with town shellfish departments and state agencies.
• Promotes projects and program through website and written materials.
• Helps write and manage grant projects.
• Performs similar or related work as required, directed or the situation dictates.

Education and Experience Master of Science degree required in marine science, environmental science or related field or Bachelor's degree in a related field and willingness to work toward a Master's. A minimum of three years' experience working with shellfish, finfish and/or environmental monitoring projects, or an equivalent of education and experience.
