Job DescriptionThe Student Support Interventionist is a motivated, positive individual focused on providing targeted support and assisting students in pursuing academic and social-emotional growth. This individual plays a vital role in our school’s commitment to a safe, supportive, and restorative learning environment by overseeing and managing the In-School Suspension (ISS) and reflection room. The Student Support Interventionist utilizes and models intervention strategies, teaches coping skills, implements restorative practices, and fosters resilience and problem-solving for students and the broader school community.
The successful candidate must be proactive, adept at managing stressful situations, and focused on promoting and maintaining positive relationships across all stakeholders.
- Manage In-School Suspension & Reflection Spaces:
Maintain a structured, calm, and productive environment for students assigned to short-term in-school suspension or behavioral reflection periods. - Deliver Restorative Interventions:
Guide students through reflection activities, conflict resolution, and restorative discussions aimed at addressing the root causes of behavioral infractions, teaching coping skills, and reducing future occurrences. - Provide Academic Support:
Actively assist, tutor, and support students with their classroom assignments while they are out of the traditional classroom setting, ensuring they maintain academic progress and momentum. - Proactive & Multidisciplinary
Collaboration:
Partner closely and daily with classroom teachers to gather student work, consult with guidance counselors regarding students' social-emotional needs, and coordinate with school administration on student behavior plans, safety, and disciplinary outcomes. - Re-entry Support:
Facilitate smooth transitions for students returning from suspension to the general education classroom, helping them implement strategies for long-term success. - Student Management & Building Safety:
Perform daily responsibilities associated with building safety, hallway climate, and general student management to actively contribute to a positive school culture.

The Quabbin Regional School District serves five central Massachusetts communities:
Barre, Hardwick, Hubbardston, New Braintree, and Oakham. The district was formed as a regional district servicing grades 7-12 in 1965. It was later expanded by vote of all five towns to take jurisdiction of all school age children in grades K-12 effective July 1, 1985.
