Position Overview

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator position is located in-person at our Barre, VT location. This role ensures accurate weekly payroll processing, administers employee benefits programs, and supports a positive employee experience across the credit union. This role maintains precise HR records, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as a key resource for staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll and maintain accurate employee data.
  • Administer health, insurance, and retirement benefit programs.
  • Ensure compliance with COBRA
    , HIPAA
    , and ERISA
    .
  • Support onboarding and respond to employee payroll/benefits questions.
  • Coordinate payroll deductions, tax deposits, and contributions to benefit providers.
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to process improvements
    .
  • Participate in culture, engagement, and community initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 1+ years of payroll, HR, accounting or related experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • Familiarity with payroll/benefits systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Primarily computer‑based work; ability to lift up to 15 lbs. Some travel to other office locations required.
