The Barre Unified Union School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Spaulding High School Special Education Team, beginning August 2026. This special educator will case manage and provide direct instruction to students on IEPs and supervise their supporting para educators.

• Developing and implementing specialized instruction
• Facilitating the evaluation process and completing evaluations
• Preparing IEPs, transition plans and behavior plans
• Scheduling and facilitating parent meetings
• Coordinating services with outside agencies and other providers
• Preparing and completing alternate assessments as needed

• Candidate must have, or be eligible to obtain, a Vermont educators license with the appropriate endorsement, or be eligible for a Temporary VSBPE Waiver- PROVISIONAL LICENSURE K-12 SPECIAL EDUCATORS.
• For the 2025-26 academic year, applicants for a Provisional License with a special education shall possess a baccalaureate degree, and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • a. possess any valid professional Educator license from Vermont or from another state;
  • b. possess any expired professional Vermont Educator license or any expired professional Educator license from another state, provided the license expired no fewer than two (2) years and no longer than ten (10) years ago;
  • c. have a major or the equivalent in the content area of the provisional endorsement sought;
  • d. have successfully completed Praxis II licensure content assessment for special education (Test number 5354) with a passing score of at least 145 within 120 days of issuance of a provisional license.
• Educators qualifying through criterion d) must have been admitted to an approved pathway to special education licensure.
• Master's Degree preferred.

The District is currently in negotiations for the upcoming contracts. The salary indicated in this posting is for the FY25/26 school year and will be updated as soon as negotiations are concluded.

Salary: $45,265 to $85,438 Per Year
