This Career Technical Education (CTE) Lab Assistant will primarily support Automotive and Welding programs at the Central Vermont Career Center. The position is flexible and may be filled as either part-time or full-time, depending on candidate availability and program needs.
This is a school-year position working five days per week during student program hours. A part-time schedule is approximately 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (approximately 25 hours per week), while a full-time schedule may extend to approximately 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (approximately 37.5 hours per week).
Three days each week will be dedicated to supporting the Automotive Program, with the remaining days assisting the Welding Program.
Responsibilities- Assume the role of Career & Tech. Instructor when the regular instructor is not available (substitute).
- Mentor students within the CTE Career Cluster and programs offered at the Technical Center.
- Work with individual, small, or large groups of students to reinforce instruction and support student learning.
- Support program instructors in curriculum development, differentiated learning delivery, and other clerical duties as assigned.
- Implement curriculum materials under the supervision of a program instructor.
- Assist with general classroom behavior management procedures.
- Assist with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
- Utilize appropriate building systems for communicating questions and/or concerns.
- Report all student safety issues to the program instructor or immediate supervisor.
- Handle confidentiality in dealing with student/school/district matters.
- Participate in supervision of students as needed with other staff in the Center (i.e., morning greeting, morning breakfast duty, lunch duty, etc.) and other duties as assigned.
- Supervise, evaluate, and receive administrative direction from the Assistant Director and/or his/her designee.
- Advise and support students and staff in campus safety and emergency protocols.
- Basic understanding of Central Vermont Career Center Programs.
- Basic knowledge of High School Education and/or Career Center Education.
- Hold a current valid driver’s license in the state of Vermont.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); sufficient training/education/experience beyond high school to be fully familiar with the specialty of the lab to which assigned.
- Work experience in the field or completion of the class to which assigned.

- Operate a PC and related software.
- May be required to be certified or to become certified in first aid and OSHA
10. - Ability to complete necessary pre‑employment criminal background checks.
- At least 4 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment. The individual must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and may potentially maneuver large, cumbersome equipment.
