Job DescriptionWe are looking for a permanent substitute to support our teaching staff. Permanent substitutes are full‑time school year employees who report to the school each day and work with students in grades PreK – 8. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour. Benefits include health insurance, sick time, and personal time.
POSITION GOAL: To ensure every student can pursue their education as seamlessly as possible during the absence of a classroom teacher.
CORE/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive daily placement from the substitute coordinator.
- Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
- Teach the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior during times when under substitute supervision.
- Complete reports on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day/period/block.
- Follow policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject with good teaching practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned when not assigned to a classroom.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the classroom, library/learning center, or other instructional setting.
- Supervising students in areas outside of the classroom.
- Supervising a study hall, in‑school suspensions, etc.
- Performing basic clerical duties for the schools’ administrative support staff.
- Monitoring students in the hallways/lobby and in high‑traffic and gathering places.
- Providing one‑on‑one academic support to students.
- Substituting in classrooms and covering lunch/work breaks as needed.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
