Special Education Teacher | Barre, Vermont

Embark on a rewarding contract role supporting diverse learners as an in-person Special Education Teacher. Two full-time opportunities are available for the  school year—one serving middle school students and the other working with elementary-aged children. Each position takes place at a local school in the Barre area, where you'll be part of a dedicated team making a positive impact throughout the academic year.

• Valid state Special Education teaching certification
• Proven experience working in a school-based special education environment
• Comfortable providing in-person instruction and support; remote options are not available for these roles
• Ability to design, implement, and track Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and fellow educators
• Experience managing diverse learner caseloads corresponding to either middle or elementary school populations

• Delivering tailored special education services to assigned caseload of students, either at the middle or elementary school level
• Developing, reviewing, and updating IEPs to ensure student progress and compliance with regulations
• Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive learning environments
• Documenting student milestones, challenges, and progress on a regular basis
• Engaging in team meetings and professional development relevant to special education and inclusion practices
• Adhering to district and state policies regarding special education

This is a full academic year contract (August 28, 2026, through June 18, 2027) with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours on-site.
