The Vermont Department of Libraries seeks a Director of Inclusive Services & the ABLE Library to lead the ABLE Library program providing braille, audio books, and specialized services to Vermonters who are blind or print disabled. The Director manages collection development for correctional and psychiatric facilities, supervises two staff members, and serves as the Department's lead consultant on inclusive services for Veterans, LGBTQ+ Vermonters, seniors, new Americans, people with disabilities, and incarcerated individuals.
This role reports to the Assistant State Librarian and participates in statewide library leadership and strategic initiatives.
- Master's degree in Library Science from ALA-accredited institution and 3+ years library experience including 1+ year supervisory experience
- Experience serving special or vulnerable populations, including patrons with physical and/or cognitive impairments
- Knowledge of accessibility technologies and specialized library information systems (ILS)
- Demonstrated teaching ability and subject-matter expertise in inclusive services
- Managerial and operational skills with staff supervision experience
- Ability to travel statewide
