Job Summary:

Assist the professional staff in the triaging, processing and delivery of prescriptions to the patient. Assist in the management of the Pharmacy Inventory and Third Party Receivables. Assists in the hiring and training of new employees. Assists the pharmacist in proper inventory management.

Core Competencies:

Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Clerk as needed including, but not limited to running cash register and answering telephones

Intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology – included is product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps

Inventory management – proficient in inventory management including ordering & receiving processes, inventory freshness; proficient with return to stocks and cycle counting

Regulatory & Operational Compliance – Proficient in all state and federal regulations ensuring compliance with the law; understands and ensures we follow company operational policies & procedures

Executes the plan – able to learn and understand specific aspects of the pharmacy management system (i.e., reception and release to patient queues) as well as our POS system; follows instructions and completes tasks with a sense of urgency; responsible for daily department standards

Quality focused – understands and embraces the importance of our Quality Assurance Policy & Procedures; understands and embraces all patient care programs and initiatives; understands and embraces all policies and procedures; accuracy with cash and related cash controls

Ensure that every prescription has been checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing to the patient

Assist in the initial submission, and resubmission (as required) of all third party claims

Locating prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed

Prepare and file manual records for pharmacist signatures and review

Integrity/Ethical Behavior – acts with integrity always; never willing to compromise integrity; behaves in a manner consistent with company standards; understands and fully complies with all HIPPA compliance standards

Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs

Perform other duties as assigned

Assist and oversee all aspects of pharmacy workflow (Data Entry to Customer Pickup)
Ensures all pharmacy staff provides quality customer service

Must stay current with all State and Federal requirements as well as corporate goals and initiatives

Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs

Assists the supervising pharmacist with monitoring and reporting quality assurance events

Assists the supervising pharmacist with pharmacy inventory tasks such as returns, outdates, and transmission and receiving of all orders from our suppliers

Assists the supervising pharmacist with ensuring all loss prevention policies are followed by staff

Assists the supervising pharmacist with monthly and quarterly controlled substance cycle counts

Facilitates communication from the supervising pharmacist and upper management to pharmacy department personnel

Responsible for assisting in the scheduling of pharmacy staff to ensure payroll and productivity budget guidelines are met, as well as monitoring staff PTO usage

Attend training/management programs as requested by the supervising pharmacist

Monitoring all lines of communication (Email/Natural Insights/Phone), and relays information to pharmacy staff

Assists with MTM and other adherence programs to achieve corporate defined goals

Job Requirements:

Possess and maintain a valid State License and current registration to practice Pharmacy Ability to stand/walk throughout majority of shift

Successful completion of a pre-employment and/or random drug screening test

Educational Requirements:

Minimum:
High School Diploma (or currently enrolled) or GED Preferred: AS Degree or Higher Required (Vermont Employees):

Registered with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician

Experience:

Preferred hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
