Cemetery Seasonal Helpers

The Town of Barre is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals for two Seasonal Cemetery Laborer positions. These seasonal roles assist with the maintenance and care of The Town's three cemetery during the summer months. Duties include landscaping, groundskeeping, and general labor to ensure cemeteries remain respectful, clean, and well-kept for the public.

• Mowing lawns and trimming grass using push and/or riding mowers, trimmers, and other equipment.
• Remove debris, leaves, and litter from gravesites and walkways.
• Dig, backfill, and level graves as required under supervision.
• Plant flowers and perform basic landscaping tasks.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
• Assist with setup for burials or other cemetery events.
• Perform general grounds maintenance including raking, watering, and pruning.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines and always provide respectful and courteous service to the public.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Experience in landscaping and groundskeeping is a plus.
• Must be respectful and professional due to the sensitive nature of cemetery work, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The Cemetery Seasonal Helper works from May to October, and the starting hourly wage is $18.00.
