The Opportunity

Under the general guidance and direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Executive Assistant – Office of CAO provides confidential and non-confidential executive level administrative support for the CAO as well as other members of the Executive Management Team and other direct reports of the CAO when required. This position supports and maintains the standardization and consistent delivery of executive level administrative support services through the development, review, and update of policies, procedures, processes, and practices;

receives, responds to, or redirects inquiries, requests, or complaints regarding City programs, services, and projects; and provides guidance to administrative support staff across the City regarding administrative support policies, procedures, processes, and practices. Overall, this position plays an integral role supporting not only the CAO's office including EMT, however also in supporting and maintaining the consistent, effective and efficient delivery of administrative support services across the City.

Education
  • Two (2) year College Diploma in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Position Equivalency Code: C

Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities

  • Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software:

  • Please note that this is a requirement for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the Police Record Check Policy. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.
Other Important Information

Location: City Hall, 70 Collier Street, Barrie, Ontario

  • Please note that the City has a Hybrid Work Program Policy in place that may allow a hybrid work arrangement of one (1) remote day per week for employees who meet eligibility requirements.

Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week; however, some non-standard hours may apply

Wage: This a permanent full-time non-union position with the following pay level and 2026 pay range:

  • Pay Level: Level 10
  • Yearly Salary: $76,269.69 to $
  • Hourly Pay Rate: $41.91 to $56.18
