The Opportunity

As the primary role responsible for completing accounting and reporting transactions and preparing financial statements for the Inn Power Group of Companies, this role is required to maintain ongoing functional understanding of routine and complex IFRS and Regulatory Accounting standards, processes and reporting obligations to ensure the timely, and accurate reporting of financial information to key business stakeholders.

Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for the Inn Power Group of Companies in accordance with current IFRS and Regulatory Accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close procedures, including posting recurring journals, monthly account reconciliations, development charges, balance sheet reporting, etc. for routine and complex accounts in accordance with IFRS reporting standards.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end activities, including assisting in the preparation of the year-end audits and budgets.
  • Supports the Finance and Regulatory department with maintaining timely financial and accounting records in compliance with general accounting guidance issued by the Ontario Energy Board as outlined in the Accounting Procedures Handbook. This role is also expected to provide support and/or contributions as directed to periodic RRR, rate applications or other regulatory submissions being completed by the Regulatory Department.
  • Supports the Engineering department with development, analysis and ongoing reporting of the developer Economic Evaluations as outlined in the Distribution Code.
  • Preparation of reports/analysis for Regulatory, Operations and Engineering as required.
  • Prepares and maintains the Fixed Asset continuity schedules, budget to actual reports and related reconciliations.
  • Analyze and develop financing plans for large scale capital projects, including the consideration of current reserve fund and development charge balances, annual contributions, debt calculations, and forecasting future revenue and development charge receipts.
  • Maintains shared services cost allocations and prepares lease accounting reconciliations in accordance with lease agreements and IFRS reporting standards.
  • Record and maintain related party transactions.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Supervisor to investigate discrepancies in the preparation of the monthly inventory analysis.
  • Assist with government agency reporting and communication to ensure filing compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the Town of Innisfil with information used to create the development charge study.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and documentation of the departmental policies and procedures.
