Your Opportunity

We are currently hiring a Senior Manager to join our growing Transaction Tax Services team, which can be based in any of our locations across Canada. This new role will involve assisting clients with transaction tax issues including buy‑side and sell‑side tax due diligence, tax structuring, modeling, pre‑sale planning, sale‑purchase agreements and post‑closing matters.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Lead sell‑side and buy‑side tax due diligence engagements to identify, evaluate and quantify potential tax liabilities and exposures, mitigating them prior to sale processes and in collaboration with legal counsel.
  • Work with Partners and clients to mitigate tax exposures before initiating sale processes.
  • Analyze complex tax issues to design tax‑efficient structures for strategic and private equity acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations.
  • Collaborate with team members on Canadian and international private equity fund design and related management structures.
  • Prepare technical deliverables outlining tax analysis and implications for clients.
  • Manage and mentor engagement team members, coordinating work across the country.
  • Maintain high‑level client relationships, building positive working relationships and providing effective support for engagements.
  • Contribute to recruitment of new talent.
  • Develop less experienced staff through coaching, knowledge transfer, internal training, and challenging work assignments.
  • Support business development initiatives, primarily in the private equity space, and identify new opportunities with existing clients.
How We Define Success for Your Role
  • Demonstrate BDO's core values—Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration—in all aspects of work.
  • Understand clients’ industry, challenges and opportunities; be perceived as positive, professional and delivering high‑quality work.
  • Recommend and focus on effective service delivery for clients.
  • Engage in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains, and attracts talent.
  • Actively participate in digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace.
  • Grow your expertise through continuous learning and professional development.
Your Experience and Education
  • Completed CPA designation or LLB.
  • Completion of Master of Taxation or CPA Canada In‑Depth Tax program.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the professional services industry, with a focus on tax.
  • Experience in M&A transactions and a strong desire to deepen knowledge in this area.
  • Experience identifying issues, developing solutions, managing client expectations, engagement economics, and team leadership.
  • Strong teamwork, client service orientation, and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Benefits
  • Competitive total cash compensation that rewards performance.
  • Flexible benefits from day one, including a market‑leading personal time‑off policy.
  • Reimbursement for wellness initiatives that fit your lifestyle.
  • Opportunities for learning and development across services, industries, and markets.
  • Support for personal goals outside the office and community impact initiatives.
