The Organization
Canadian Mental Health Association Muskoka–Parry Sound (CMHA MPS) is a trusted, community‑based non‑profit organization delivering vital mental health, addictions, and housing programs and supports across one of Ontario’s largest and most diverse geographies. CMHA MPS is deeply rooted in recovery‑oriented, person‑centred, and strength‑based practice, empowering individuals to live with dignity, autonomy, and hope.
Through a broad continuum of community‑based programs, CMHA MPS responds to urgent and complex needs, addresses social determinants of health, and strengthens resilience and well‑being across some of Ontario’s most underserved regions. The organization is recognized as a collaborative system partner and a trusted ally to Indigenous and First Nations communities throughout Muskoka and Parry Sound.
It is within this context that CMHA Muskoka–Parry Sound invites applications for the role of Executive Director , following the upcoming retirement of its long‑serving leader.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to a committed and diverse Board of Directors, 50% of whom bring lived or family experience, the Executive Director will provide strategic, inclusive, and values‑driven leadership to an organization of approximately 144 clinical and operational staff working across multiple sites (Bracebridge, Parry Sound, Huntsville, Sundridge and Gravenhurst).
NOTE:
This role can be based out of any of the 5 sites mentioned.
The Executive Director will steward CMHA MPS through a pivotal period shaped by increasing demand for mental health and addictions services, evolving provincial priorities, rising community complexity, and an intensified focus on quality, equity, cultural safety, and integrated systems of care. As the organization’s senior leader, the Executive Director will champion CMHA MPS’s Mission, Vision and Values; continue to deliver operational, clinical, and financial excellence; and strengthen a resilient workforce in what has come to be known as an exceptionally well supported, mentally safe work environment and culture.
Acting as CMHA MPS’s ambassador and advocate, the Executive Director will continue to strengthen relationships with funders, municipalities, health‑system partners and grassroots organizations across the region. They will work to deepen partnerships with Indigenous and First Nations communities. They will represent the organization with credibility and compassion, locally, regionally, and provincially working alongside an extensive network of other CMHA leaders, advancing systems collaboration and amplifying the voice of community‑based mental health and addictions services.
