We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Manager of Economic Development to lead a team of passionate individuals and make a lasting impact on our organization, community, and economy! In this exciting current vacancy, you will drive the economic development planning for the Town in realization of our Community Strategic Plan:
Innovative Innisfil 2030, being true to the values: “Community First. Future Next. Balance Always.” and ensuring alignment with the Town’s strategic vision.
As a key member of our Leadership Team, the Manager of Economic Development will own and drive business attraction, expansion and retention programs, entrepreneurial support programming and strategic marketing efforts – promoting the Town as a business location and tourism destination, develop highly effective working relationships with multiple affiliates, as well as:
- Executing a community economic development plan that integrates programs for business attraction, expansion and investment, entrepreneurial innovation, tourism and commercial support, and initiatives which continue to exemplify Innisfil’s best‑in‑class economic development department.
- Implementing strategic studies and plans to inform and drive economic development advancements for the Town.
- Creating partnerships with businesses, senior levels of government, developers, financial institutions and other investors to promote economic prosperity and formulate long term strategy and objectives.
- Collaborating with key industry leaders/stakeholders, and members of Council to formulate long‑term economic strategies.
- Developing and monitoring operating and capital budgets for Economic Development, while ensuring effective management of program expenditure and revenues.
- University degree in Economic Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field of study, combined with progressive relevant experience in economic development preferably at a municipal or provincial level or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Professional designation in economic development is preferred through Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC).
- Membership with the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) or equivalent.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience of significant demonstrated economic development and supervisory experience at a senior level.
- A valid Class “G” driver’s license in good standing is required as is a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or other events as required.
