Help lead compassionate crisis response in your community.

Are you an experienced crisis professional who enjoys mentoring others and staying calm under pressure?

We're looking for Volunteer Team Leads who can support fellow volunteers, coordinate crisis response and help ensure individuals impacted by crime and tragedy receive timely, compassionate support.

As a Volunteer Team Lead, you'll be a trusted resource for volunteers and work alongside the Volunteer Coordinator to strengthen our crisis response program.

About Victim Services of Simcoe County

Victim Services of Simcoe County (VSSC) is a volunteer-driven charitable organization that provides immediate emotional support, practical assistance, safety planning and referrals to individuals impacted by crime or tragedy. Our volunteers make a meaningful difference during some of the most difficult moments in a person's life.

What You’ll Do
  • Participate in a rotational on‑call schedule coordinating and supporting after‑hours crisis response calls
  • Assess requests for service and deploy volunteers
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to crisis response volunteers
  • Support volunteers during complex or high-volume calls
  • Promote trauma‑informed, client‑centred and culturally responsive care
  • Participate in volunteer meetings, training and debriefings
  • Communicate operational concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Represent VSSC professionally with police, emergency services and community partners
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all VSSC policies and standards
We’re Looking For Someone Who Can
  • Fulfil one 12‑ or 24‑hour shift monthly
  • Be available for on‑call support at least one weekend monthly
  • Commit to one‑year of service
  • Provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
With Skills Including
  • Leadership, sound judgment and excellent communication skills.
  • Providing trauma‑informed, compassionate service
  • Basic computer competencies (email, Outlook Calendar, Zoom, etc.)
Requirements

We also require you to have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle and vehicle insurance.
