• Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
• Estimate labour costs and manage staff scheduling
• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
• Analyze inventory data
• Demonstrate menu offerings and new equipment to cooking staff
• Supervise activities of cooks and other kitchen workers
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as private catering
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
• Prepare and cook food on a regular basis
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies
• Arrange for equipment repairs
• Ensure food meets quality standards
• Recruit and hire staff
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
• Leading/instructing individuals

Education: Completion of High School is required

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry is required. If the candidate does not have at least 5 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate is required Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.

Work setting: Restaurant.

Ability to supervise at least 25 workers

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks, work under pressure, and attention to detail, handling heavy loads and physically demanding.

Salary: $36.92 hourly, 40 to 44 hours per week

• Gratuities. If the worker needs to relocate, the employer will cover the travel expenses
• Flexibility on schedule is required. We are open 7 days a week from 11:00 am – 12:00 am Sundays to Thursdays and from 11:00 am – 1:00 am Fridays and Saturdays. A typical shift would be 5 – 7 hours. Work on weekends and holidays are required. Overtime may be required.
