Full‑Time Permanent; 0.5 Life Safety Technician, 0.5 Electrician. Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, 40 hours weekly
Annual Compensation: $32.86 to $34.85 per hour, as per Collective Agreement
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Facilities Systems Maintenance, the Life Safety Technician/Electrician’s primary responsibility is for the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems including electrical, electronic and electrical‑mechanical equipment, as well as the installation and verification of life safety systems devices in accordance with Board policies and procedures, relevant regulations, codes and best practices in a safe and effective manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Licensed 309 A Journeyman Electrician – Construction and Maintenance
Valid CFAA Technician Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year (employer supported training if do not currently have certification)
1 to 3 years previous related and/or on the job experience in an electrical maintenance capacity for facility power supply, distribution, and lighting up to at least 600V in a commercial/industrial setting, as well as security/alarm systems and panels, P.A. systems, and emergency lighting
Ability to troubleshoot and improve installed electrical equipment/infrastructure
Ability to install/replace electrical equipment/infrastructure.
Ability to utilize drawings, electrical schematics, and documents as part of performing work.
Experience using electronic Work Management Systems (CMMS, Work Order System, etc.) for documentation of work performed and data collection.
Ability to use computers and electronic devices for communication and documentation.
Must be compliant with health and safety guidelines
Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with adolescents and the general public.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid Ontario Driver's License, Class G with clean abstract
Standard First Aid Certification, CPR certification
