Job PurposeTo perform general building and property maintenance as needed; assist in repair, adjustment and troubleshooting of building systems and related equipment; as well as preventative maintenance in accordance with OHSA and company specifications.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities- Perform hands‑on maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, fire alarm, and general building systems throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with building infrastructure, equipment, and utilities, applying basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, welding, and drywall.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with ISO standards, including safety systems, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting checks.
- Operate powered and manual tools and equipment in compliance with OHSA and company safety policies.
- Assist with facility recycling, refuse, and hazardous waste removal programs, ensuring proper handling and disposal procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S principles and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.
- Record maintenance activities, inspections, and work orders accurately using a CMMS or similar maintenance tracking system.
- Support the installation, relocation, and setup of office and facility spaces.
- Collaborate with EHS, manufacturing, and office teams to maintain compliance with OHSA, EPA, fire codes, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in planning and executing facility improvement projects, including renovations, equipment upgrades, and space planning.
- Manage building automation systems and optimize energy usage throughout the facility.
- Provide guidance to junior technicians or contractors on standard maintenance procedures and safety practices.
- Report daily or weekly on maintenance issues and assist in other areas of maintenance as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED required; a technical degree or certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, renovation techniques, building maintenance, or construction technology is strongly preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant hands‑on experience in general maintenance or construction trades (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, drywall, welding) may be considered in lieu of formal post‑secondary education. Experience in facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment with office space preferred.
- Valid "G" class Ontario Driver’s License.
- Forklift experience an asset.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools.
