Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Position in Barrie, Ontario
- Sunday - Thursday, Night shift 11:00 PM- 7:00 AM
We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team as a Millwright (Industrial Mechanic). The role involves diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance on machinery, and maintaining accurate records.
RequirementsWe are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- Licensed Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyman certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience in a Canadian industrial environment
- Excellent troubleshooting skills on various industrial, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English and performing basic math
- Basic computer skills for data entry
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification for operating powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklift, side-loader, 4-directional lift, scissor lift)
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship or immigration restrictions
A typical day may include:
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical and mechanical problems on machinery and equipment, and performing timely repairs
- Establishing maintenance schedules and conducting regular preventive maintenance
- Performing building maintenance and minor repairs while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Dismantling defective equipment and installing new or repaired components
- Keeping accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs
- Coordinating and recommending work-related contracts and services
- Supervising outside contractors for mechanical and electrical repairs
- Participating in and complying with all health, safety, quality, and Lean initiatives
- Safely completing all tasks and wearing required PPE
- Assisting in operational tasks as requested by the supervisor or manager
- Preparing and submitting reports as required
- Developing standard operating procedures and preventative maintenance plans
- Being available and flexible to work overtime as needed to support business operations
