About

The Role

As a CBRE Senior Building Operator/Licensed Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining small to medium‑sized buildings, building systems, and equipment. This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. You are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and base building systems
  • Perform daily inspections of critical equipment (e.g., chillers, boilers, air handling units, generators, UPS)
  • Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs in alignment with CBRE standards
  • Support tenant requests and ensure service excellence across client sites
  • Participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation and emergency response
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including:
    • Switchgear, panels, transformers
    • Lighting systems and controls
    • Emergency power systems (generators, UPS)
  • Diagnose electrical faults and implement corrective actions safely and efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and all provincial regulations
  • Support electrical shutdown planning and execution
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Utilize CMMS systems for work order management and asset tracking
  • Act as a technical resource for junior operators and contractors
  • Adhere strictly to CBRE and client Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs
  • Conduct hazard assessments (JHAs, FLHAs) and apply safe work practices (LOTO, arc flash safety)
What You’ll Need
  • Valid Electrician License (Mandatory) e.g., 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician (Ontario) or equivalent provincial certification
  • Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, or related field (asset)
  • Building Operator Certification (BES I & II preferred) or equivalent
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, and First Aid certifications (preferred)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The salary being offered for this role is up to $80,000 per year. The compensation provided to a successful candidate will depend on their skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits:
