Horne Conveyance Safety is a growing company specializing in the design, manufacture, installation, and servicing of heavy mechanical and hydraulic systems for the mining industry. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys solving technical problems, and can work independently in a shop environment.
Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Mechanical Fitter / Millwright role is based in Barrie, ON. The role involves the following
- Assemble and fit heavy mechanical equipment.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems and components.
- Perform precision fitting, alignment, and mechanical assembly.
- Operate manual machine tools (lathe, milling machine, drill press, band saw) to manufacture or modify components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Inspect completed assemblies to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assist with equipment installation, testing, and commissioning when required.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Work closely with a shop hand to complete projects efficiently.
- Journeyperson Millwright, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy mechanical assembly.
- Strong hydraulic assembly and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience operating manual machining equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is an asset.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Self-motivated and dependable.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
