Barrington Public Schools is searching for a dynamic, committed individual to serve as their next superintendent of schools. Barrington is recognized as one of the top school systems in Rhode Island, and all of the schools in its system consistently score at or near the top in categories measured by the Rhode Island Department of Education. The district includes four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school with a total student population of 3,388.

Located 10 miles southeast of Providence, Barrington is a suburban residential community with a population of 17,347. It offers easy access to Providence, Boston, and the Northeast, as well as the mid-Atlantic States. The community supports and values public education and serves as a strong partner in supporting the learning and well-being of all students.

• Rhode Island Superintendent of Schools Certification (or the ability to acquire it)
• Doctorate (Ph.D./Ed.D.) or Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Instructional Leadership, or a related field
• Advanced study in Educational Administration, Policy, Instruction, or a related field is preferred

• Successful experience as a superintendent with long‑term plans to remain in the position
• District‑level administrative experience in PK‑12 education
• Classroom teaching experience
• Experience working closely with a School Committee/Board of Education
• Experience in collaboration and negotiations with unions and associations

• Demonstrated history of responsive and transparent customer service as a leader
• Highly visible leadership; present in schools and the community
• Ability to partner with community members and local organizations to support public education
• Effective problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills
• Knowledge of recent Rhode Island state legislation for public schools and its local impacts
• Exceptional leadership and management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, including transparent and respectful interactions with students, staff, families, and community members
• Demonstrated exemplary communication skills in listening, speaking, and writing
• Commitment to modeling high standards of professional and ethical behavior and operating consistently with integrity and transparency

Residency within a 10‑mile radius of the Barrington community is required, though negotiable on a case‑by‑case basis.

A regionally competitive salary with a base range of $265,000, based on experience and education, plus an excellent benefits package. Consideration will also be given for a moving allowance and transition support.
