The Town of Barrington, RI is accepting applications for a full-time SEWER LABORER. Incumbents will perform a variety of manual tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of the Town's Municipal sewer system. This position involves working in a physically demanding environment in confined spaces. Candidate will assist in the maintenance, repair, and construction of sewer lines, manholes and storm drains;

will also be required to dig trenches, lay pipes and back fill excavations, as well as perform routine inspections. Additional duties will be assigned, as needed. Work will be performed inside and outside in all weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Graduate or GED Equivalent; must possess a valid driver's license and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)- or the ability to obtain within 6-months of employment;
Waste Water Certification-or ability to obtain within 18-months of employment;
Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds on a regular basis; flexibility to work additional hours during emergencies or storms will be required; must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug test =will also be subjected to random drug testing per DOT regulations; team-oriented environment and self-motivation a plus.
Salary Range: $47,402 annual salary per year - opportunity for overtime
