We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic / Diagnostic Specialist to join our busy, highly respected independent garage team in Barry. We offer a £35,000–£40,000 basic salary, permanent Monday-to-Friday hours (08:00–17:30, strictly no weekends), and a supportive, non-corporate environment where your skills are genuinely valued.

Your RoleAs a vital member of our Barry technical team, you will:
- Carry out routine vehicle servicing
, brake overhauls, clutch replacements, timing belts, and general mechanical repairs. - Utilize modern diagnostic equipment to accurately troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and engine management faults.
- Maintain high standards of work to ensure reliable "first-time fix" results and high workshop productivity.
- Work collaboratively as part of a skilled team to keep workflow smooth and uphold customer trust.
- Qualifications &
Experience:
NVQ / IMI Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time‑served experience). Proven track record as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic in a professional workshop setting. F‑Gas certification is preferred (or an interest in obtaining it). - Licensing: Full UK driving licence is essential.
An active MOT Tester licence is preferred but not required. - Equipment & Mindset: Must possess your own hand tools; bring high attention to detail, strong fault‑finding abilities, and a reliable work ethic.
Our Barry facility offers an easy, straightforward daily commute for candidates travelling from Cardiff, Penarth, Dinaspowys, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major, Rhoose, and surrounding Vale of Glamorgan areas.
